The first annual The Rise Above Fest will take place in Gilford, N.H. on September 3 at the Meadowbrook U.S. Cellular Pavilion. The name of the festival is taken from the song, "Rise Above This," that front man Shaun Morgan wrote as a message to his brother. His brother took his own life five years ago before he ever got a chance to hear and it was that experience that brought about the creation of The Rise Above Fest.
The festival will raise money for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) New Hampshire, a multi-faceted organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of persons of all ages affected by mental illness or serious emotional disorders through education, support and advocacy. Playing alongside Seether, who will be headlining the inaugural event, are fellow rockers Buckcherry, Puddle Of Mudd, Black Stone Cherry and Otherwise. Tickets for the event go on-sale June 8 and will range from $29.75 - $64.50 with exclusive VIP packages offered. A portion of the proceeds from The Rise Above Fest will be used to support this incredible foundation and this important cause.
"Over the past few months, the topic of suicide has received more attention than ever in the media. For me personally, it is something I can never forget. I am starting this festival as a tribute to anyone who has lost someone. If this festival does something to help one person reconsider the tragic choice of suicide, then it will be the greatest success of my career," states Morgan.
Aside from creating The Rise Above Fest, Seether have just set a new career milestone for themselves. The South African trio's latest single "No Resolution" from their Wind-Up Records release, Holding Onto Stings Better Left to Fray, hit #1 at Active Rock marking the first time the band has had 3 consecutive chart topping tracks from the same album.
