Ted Nugent Compares Gun Owners to Civil Rights Icon

Ted Nugent is back at it.

The classic rocker is known for his love of hunting, guns and conservative politics. Now he's throwing one of the most important names of the Civil Rights era into the gun control debate raging in Washington, D.C.: Rosa Parks.

That's right. When asked about possible gun control measures currently being discussed among lawmakers, Nugent replied, "There will come a time when the gun owners of America, the law-abiding gun owners of America, will be the Rosa Parks and we will sit down on the front seat of the bus, case closed."

Parks refused to give up her seat in the "colored" section of the Montgomery, Ala. bus she was riding on to a white passenger after the "white" section was full.

Nugent made the comment to WND, a conservative website.

According to Vice President Joe Biden, President Barack Obama is considering taking executive action on gun control issues.

"There are executive orders, executive action that can be taken. We haven't decided what that is yet, but we're compiling it all," Mr. Biden said in a meeting Jan. 9 at the White House. Mr. Biden is spearheading a White House task force on gun violence.

Using executive orders allows a president to bypass congressional roadblocks. This also means sweeping change to current laws cannot come without congressional approval.

Mr. Obama can take sole action to strengthen the background check database used by the F.B.I. when someone purchases a gun. A presidential order can also mean agencies like the Social Security Administration can share information with the F.B.I. This can help in the area of mental competence of gun buyers.

A few days ago, Nugent wrote an open letter to Vice President Biden urging more care for the mentally unstable. The Nuge would be glad to learn that President Obama can use executive order to demand states share more information from both their crime and mental-health databases.

President Obama has called the Sandy Hook Elementary School Massacre the worst day of his presidency. On Dec. 14, 2012, 20 children and six teachers were shot to death by a lone gunman at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT. Two staffers were injured in the shooting. The gunman also shot his mother and killed himself.

The massacre caused a national outcry, with many Americans demanding stricter gun control. Conservative groups like the NRA and Gun Owners of America believe the answer is to arm teachers and put more armed guards in public places, including schools. Gun Owners of America also argue that "gun free zones" are magnets for mass shootings.

There are more than 300 million guns in circulation in America today.

Shame on Teddy for using the legendary Rosa Parks. She stood up, or rather sat down for a movement. Ted makes records and bad ones at that. Poor Ted, pity party

It seriously frightens me that people intelligent enough to buy a gun listen to anything Ted has to say. Seriously? Is that the best the NRA can get? lol

To all who care to listen, The Second Amendment spells everything out in clear English, if you do not want to own a gun simply don't purchase one , but please do not try and turn all gun owners who are abiding by the laws of this Great Country into something we are not , criminals , I have owned an ar-15 "sporter" since Nov. 1975 well before they became "scary looking guns" or "assault weapons" and to this very minute it has never shot anyone. If you trust your governments word that they will stop at this so-called ban , just look at the Native American Indian , I for one do not and would just as soon them do the job they were elected to do, and the oath they swore on to protect the Constitution of The United States, the government cannot and will not be able to protect you in case of an emergency , why don't you attack your attackers , you know the ones "taking care of you "?

The second ammendment spells things out in clear English but some people think it's clear one way and others think it['s clear the other. There seems to be some confusion about the first few words if I recall. You know, the bit about the militia. Don't be so certain your opinion is the only correct one.
What is clear is there is FAR too much gun violence and something must be done to curb it. I think is is patently ludicrous to think MORE guns are the answerl That's like saying we could cure cancer if more people would just get more cancer or drunk driving deaths would decrease if EVERYONE would drive drunk.
