Scott Weiland Responds to 'Termination' From Stone Temple Pilots

Earlier this morning (Feb. 27), Stone Temple Pilots issued a 10-word press release, saying they had fired frontman Scott Weiland.

The music community was shocked, as was Weiland himself, who said he learned of his termination from STP by reading about in the media.

Weiland, 45, has responded with a three sentence statement, which was a bit more detailed and interesting than that of his now-former bandmates, with whom he has had drama for the course of their relationship.

The dismissal came on the heels of Weiland's announcement that he would be launching the Purple to the Core solo tour will see him performing STP songs. The tour's name is a reference to Core (1992) and Purple (1994), the the group's first two (and biggest) albums.

Below is the Weiland's statement on the firing:

"I learned of my supposed 'termination' from Stone Temple Pilots this morning by reading about it in the press. Not sure how I can be 'terminated' from a band that I founded, fronted and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that's something for the lawyers to figure out. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to seeing all of my fans on my solo tour which starts this Friday."

So glad I saw them in Memphis a few years ago. Great band that really need to put egos aside. ( Di Leo bros. ) So what if he tours solo? Many bands have done that successfully and rebanded, etc.
