Symphony X Drummer Jason Rullo Suffers Heart Failure

Symphony X

Jason Rullo, drummer for New Jersey power metal warriors Symphony X, has suffered from heart failure. He was admitted to a hospital last week but subsequently released. He is not out of the woods, though. At 40, the drummer is a relatively young man, but he will undergo an intense period of rehab that will sideline him from action for three-to-six months.

The band issued an official statement about Rullo's condition and his course of rehabilitation. A full recovery is possible, as long as Rullo adheres to doctor's orders. The statement read as follows:

"World Management and Symphony X must unfortunately announce that last week, Jason Rullo was admitted to the hospital for heart failure. Jason spent a week in the hospital, and was released last week; he has started a rehab program, and has been told that his recovery will take a minimum of 3-6 months under doctors' care. We are all hopeful that J will be back soon!"

The skins smasher himself also commented on his illness, saying:

"I would just like to say that I am happy to be home with my family after what was quite a week. We had a few scary days in there but I made it through what was hopefully the worst of it. Doctors say I have a very good chance for a full recovery so I plan to be back at 100% even if it takes awhile. I will go through cardiac rehab so I can be monitored while returning to form, so that I'll know when it's safe for me to return to drumming the way I always have, if not better.
Thanks to my friends and family for the support, and to the fans, I love you all!"

Noisecreep sends our best to Rullo as he works to get back into fighting (and drumming) shape.

The headline scared me. I didn't realize heart "failure" was a term used unless the patient actually dies . Live and learn. Thank God he is recovering.

I've seen Symphony X live several times. Jason is a great drummer. But, a little correction, They're progressive metal, not power metal.

Notwithstanding the persistent efforts of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to distort the truth and portray women as specially -- and more -- vulnerable to heart disease, in REALITY, men are far more likely than women to be afflicted with and die young from heart disease.

Teddy Bruske, Pro football player (now retired) from the New England Patriots, suffered "heart-failure" and went through a "recovery" and "rehab" period and program, then returned to play again for a few more years until his recent retirement.
