Axl Rose takes his nutrition and geometry very seriously. Among the items the Guns N' Roses frontman has placed on his tour rider, Britain's Sun newspaper reports, is a "square melon," a Japanese novelty designed for easy cutting and storage.

The cubed fruit is labeled "exotic" on the inventory of backstage demands and described as something "that absolutely can't be missed."

Axl also insists that each venue he graces with his presence provides "wines, beers, vodka, red and white roses" and a custom Italian leather couch.

A few days ago, when Van Halen announced they were postponing 30 tour dates, fans speculated that David Lee Roth and the gang were once again at each other's throats. The hard rock legends certainly have a history of infighting, but in a video posted this weekend, Diamond Dave offers another explanation: They're tired.

According to Roth, he and the Van Halen boys -- brothers Alex and Eddie and youngster Wolfgang -- are "getting along famously, better than we have in quite some time, and I think the shows reveal that through the miracle of YouTube."

On the main page of the official Black Sabbath website, fans will find links to news, multimedia and an online store, but for the time being, there's one thing they won't find: photos of Bill Ward. The drummer has been feuding for months with the pioneering British metal band, and he's evidently opted to take himself out of the picture -- literally.

"At the request of Bill Ward, through his attorney, so as to not give the public the wrong impression about his involvement in the current Black Sabbath lineup, we have temporarily removed Bill Ward's images from the main pages of the blacksabbath.com official website," the group -- singer Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler -- said in a statement yesterday (May 19). Bad news, Velvet Revolver fans: The odds of Slash stepping back onstage with Scott Weiland are about as slim as those of him reuniting with Axl Rose. Or so the guitarist made it seem last night (May 18) on New York's "Friday Night Rocks" radio show, where he dismissed Weiland's recent claims he's rejoining the hard rock supergroup.

As Blabbermouth.net reports, Slash told host Eddie Trunk there's "no way" the reunion is going to happen, despite Weiland's desire to split his time between Velvet Revolver and his other band, Stone Temple Pilots.

"I love Scott -- he's a great guy when I'm not in a band with him," Slash said. "I'd just like to keep it that way. So there's no truth to this whole thing. Listenable though they may be, Jack Black says, the recent offerings from Jack White, Tom Waits, the Foo Fighters and Gotye all share one thing in common: They're not as good as the new Tenacious D album, Rize of the Fenix.

Having perhaps decided that the devil they know is better than the devil they don't, the members of Velvet Revolver have rehired Scott Weiland as their lead singer. The embattled frontman made the announcement via ABC News Radio, Rock It Out reports, and during his interview, he said his bandmates were "able to put egos and differences and old...conflicts aside and so that's really cool."

Weiland left the supergroup in 2008, and ever since, fans and critics alike have speculated over who might take his place. Despite a busy schedule that also has him fronting Stone Temple Pilots, Weiland says he and the Velvet gang -- which includes Slash and Duff McKagan from Guns N' Roses -- are working on a new album.

Last week, James Hetfield stated an opinion that's shared by plenty of people -- among them gays, Satanists and folks who think Barack Obama was born in America -- around the country: Dave Mustaine has a "big mouth." In particular, the Metallica frontman was miffed at Mustaine for talking-up a potential supergroup collaboration, and now the Megadeth frontman has responded to Hetfield's comments.

"I already sent a text message and said I apologized to him for saying that and that I won't ever mention it again," Mustaine told Artisan news, according to MetalInsider.net.

Mark "Barney" Greenway will probably never move to North Carolina, but if he does, he'll be able to get married. In an interview with "Scary Terry's Saturday Nightmare" radio show, the Napalm Death frontman let it be known that he's not gay, contrary to what people might think.

The topic of Greenway's sexuality came up when Terry asked the British grindcore legend what question he's always hoped someone would ask. When he responded, "Are you gay?" Terry took the bait and asked him whether he's homosexual.

He's got a long way to go if he wants to make waves like rocker-turned-Secret Service-person-of-interest Ted Nugent, but Dave Mustaine has a knack for stirring up liberal anger. He's gone on record as opposing gay marriage and doubting the citizenship of President Obama, and in a recent interview with the Birmingham News, he made a Nuge-style declaration about gun control.

"When people in Washington say they're going to take away my guns, they better bring theirs if they're going to take mine," the Megadeth frontman told the newspaper.

"Hi guys! I'm writing from beyond the grave.

"Seriously, I was not in a car crash and I haven't broken my arm. All that happened is I hit my head in MASTODON's tour bus as I was getting a new pair of (red) underwear out from my suitcase.

"Anyways, I split my head open down to the skullbone and had to be taken to the emergency. They gave me a bunch of shots in the wound, cleaned me up and stapled my head shut with 8 metal staples. Swedish prog-metal greats Opeth scrapped their performance last night in Maplewood, Minn., and while various websites have offered contradictory reports, it seems the cancellation had to do with singer and guitarist Mikael Akerfeldt being rushed to the hospital following a car accident.

While The Gauntlet and Loudwire suggest Akerfeldt suffered a broken arm -- a rumor that seems to have spread through the Myth, where co-headliner Mastodon apparently rocked an extra-long set -- Blabbermouth.net reports that the frontman escaped with just a "minor cut on his head."

Good news for Guns N' Roses super fans: It's probably never been more affordable to live in a home formerly owned by one of the band's members. This is bad news, however, for Richard Fortus -- or perhaps more correctly, for his mortgage company. According to the San Fernando Valley Blog, the guitarist has re-listed for $429,000 a Woodland Hills, Calif., home he bought for $700,000 back in 2006.

Fortus was originally asking $549,000 for the single-story, three-bedroom, 1,500-square-foot contemporary house, and the new price represents an approved "short sale." As Blabbermouth.net explains, a short sale is what happens when a property owner owes more than their home's market value and, facing some sort of hardship, gets permission from the lender to sell for less than is owed.

Barry Manilow and Trent Reznor have at least one thing in common, and it's the same tie that binds Stevie Nicks, Slipknot, Rick Springfield, Tom Petty and numerous other artists in various genres: Sound City Studios. The recently closed Van Nuys, Calif., recording facility was clearly a special place, and thanks to Dave Grohl, it will soon be the subject of a documentary.

Grohl is directing and producing the film -- called "Sound City," appropriately enough -- and based on the teaser below, he interviewed many of the big-name rockers who recorded there.

Regrets? Vince Neil has had a few -- but then again, too few to mention. Maybe that's why he feels such a connection with "My Way" singer Frank Sinatra. Filming a recent episode of the Travel Channel's "Ghost Adventures," the Mötley Crüe frontman apparently helped summon the crooner from beyond the grave.

"We experienced unexplained, first-hand encounters, including scratch marks on one woman's back, cold sensations, voices and knocking," Neil told the Las Vegas Sun.

The rocker joined poker player Jamie Hold and Bruce Westcott -- a former piano player for Sinatra -- at the Riviera Hotel, one of the Rat Packer's favorite hangouts. The three threw a paranormal party that evidently made a believer of Vince.

Further proof that everyone likes Aussie-Belgian singer Gotye's ubiquitous hit "Somebody That I Used to Know": poppy, proggy metal dudes Coheed and Cambria covered the song last night (April 29) in Charlottesville, Virg.

In the clip below, the foursome manages just fine without the nudity and body paint that are hallmarks of Gotye's mega-popular video. Theirs is a straightforward version, though frontman Claudio Sanchez does play the guitar with his mouth, adding a dash of theatricality.

Weeks after being sued by former bandmate Jack Russell for continuing to use their band's name, the members of Great White have launched a counterclaim against the ousted frontman, Blabbermouth.net reports.

In their suit, lead guitarist Mark Kendall, keyboard player Michael Lardie and drummer Audie Desbrow charge Russell with, among other things, being hooked on painkillers, lip-synching in concert and misleading fans with his new band, Jack Russell's Great White.

According to Russell's ex-cohorts, the singer "never contributed substantially" to songs, even in his prime, and over the years, he let his once-mighty voice fall into disrepair.

"By 2000, Russell's voice had deteriorated," the documents read. After nearly 30 years in the game, the Offspring are entitled to a little reflection. Maybe that's why they've chosen Days Go By as the title of their ninth album, which drops sometime in "early summer," Punknews.org reports.

The 12-song set (tracklist below) arrives via Sony some four years after Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace, the California quartet's last full-length. The album also marks the Offspring debut of drummer Pete Parada, who previously swung the sticks for Saves the Day and Face to Face.

Guitarist Noodles has promised Punknews.org a rocking sound reminiscent of records the group made "20 years ago." When Axl Rose refused to join his old Guns N' Roses bandmates at the recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, he didn't just disappoint fans hoping for a reunion. He effectively wrote himself out of Steven Adler's life.

Speaking recently with Rolling Stone, the drummer said he's "done with" the redheaded singer, who he's "never mentioning" or "talking about" again. He's also finished hoping the classic Appetite for Destruction-era fivesome will ever get back onstage.

"I have no desire to know him or work with him or do anything with him again," said Adler. "Letting go of that was like a huge weight was lifted off my body. I feel fucking free.
